White aragonite is a delicate, white-to-colorless orthorhombic polymorph of calcium carbonate often found in radiating, needle-like (acicular) or botryoidal clusters. Often called "Cave Calcite" or flos ferri ("flowers of iron"), it is softer than quartz but slightly harder (3.5–4 Mohs) than its polymorph, calcite.
