This is a clear quartz (SiO2) with phantom-like layers of hematite (Fe2O3) included in the crystal along with a secondary layer of overgrowth on parts of the quartz. This specimen was found in the Orange River area within the Karas region of Namibia. Only mined between 2002-2005, making it extremely rare to find high quality specimens.
