Pyrite, or Iron Pyrite is a pale brass-yellow iron sulfate (FeS2) mineral. It is also widely known as "fool's gold" for its uncanny resemblance. First recorded in 50 AD Greece, the name "pyrite" derives from the Greek word "pyro", meaning "fire". The cubic form is more rare and found only in Navajún, Spain. Industrially, it is mined for the production of sulphuric acid for the chemistry and fertilizer industry.
