Also known as Orbicular Jasper, it is a variety of jasper (SiO2) which contains variably-colored orbs or spherical inclusions or zones. It is highly silicified rhyolite with quartz or feldspar that crystallize in radial aggregates of needle-like radials that provide the base for the different structures seen in Ocean Jasper. This rare mineral is only found in the Mine of Marovato on the Ambolobozo Peninsula of Madagascar.
