Hoploscaphites is an extinct genus of heteromorph ammonites from the Late Cretaceous period. This specimen was mined in the Pierre Shale Formation in South Dakota. Unlike tightly-coiled ammonites, heteromorphs feature partially uncoiled or hook-shaped bodies with distinct ribbing and bumps.
This specimen has been partially restored as show in photos.
