This celestite cluster comes from Madagascar and features translucent blue to blue gray crystals naturally formed on a light colored matrix. Celestite, also known as celestine, is a strontium sulfate mineral with the chemical formula SrSO₄ and crystallizes in the orthorhombic system.
The crystals often form in sharp, well defined shapes with a glassy luster, making celestite a favorite among mineral collectors. With a Mohs hardness of 3–3.5, celestite is best suited for display rather than handling.
