Aquamarine (Be3Al2Si6O18) is a blue type of beryl that can be found in many locations around the world including North America and Europe. It mainly forms in granite pegmatites and hydrothermal vents. After granatic magma crystallizes, the residual fluid is rich in elements that then form mineral deposits such as aquamarine. The beautiful blue-green coloring is due to the presence of iron within the crystal structure.
