Product description

Ammonites are an extinct ocean-dwelling mollusk belonging to the cephalopod class. They are most commonly recognized by their hard, spiral patterned shells. These early marine life first appeared in the fossil record approximately 450 million years ago during the Ordovician period and did not go extinct up until about 66 million years ago towards the end of the Cretaceous period. Ammonite fossils can be discovered in several different areas around the world, but they're commonly found in sedimentary rock dating back from the Devonian through Cretaceous periods.
