Operculums (also called Shiva's eye shells) are a corneous or calcareous anatomical structure belonging to sea, freshwater, or even some land snails. It's purpose was to be a defense mechanism where the snail would hide from predators. These particular operculums are most commonly found in coastal regions of Thailand.
