Most Rose Rocks are one-half inch to four inches in diameter and consist of five to twenty radiating petals.

Deposited 250 million years ago during the Permian Period of geological time, the rocks are usually found in Oklahoma’s Garber sandstone formations. Because barite is harder and more durable than sandstone, the rosettes erode into positive relief on exposed rock surfaces. Further weathering causes them to detach into individual specimens.

This item is 1.75“ x 1“ and weighs 2.7 oz.
